第１４回 5/1（土）お助け隊＠京都駅 報告
お助け隊参上！！ 
５月１日（土）晴天 １３名 参加の大お助け隊となりました！
活動場所：ＪＲ京都駅付近のバスターミナル、近鉄乗り場、地下鉄乗り場
活動時間：朝１０時～昼１２時半
First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!
Without your help, it should not have been done successfully. I deeply appreciate your hard work! It was such a beautiful weather yesterday! The perfect day for OTASUKETAI! Guess what!? There were 13 people who joined OTASUKETAI regardless of in the middle of GW. Each one of them was filled with excitement!
We were divided into three groups and we looked for foreign travelers around JR Kyoto station and bus terminal. Within 2 and half hours, we helped nearly 100 foreign travelers! Isn’t it wonderful? Most of the travelers were so kind and friendly that we were able to have a wonderful activity.
まず最初に、皆さんのご活躍に大変感謝いたします。初めて会う人々と一生懸命英語でお話して頂きました！３グループに分かれて２時間半の活動でなんと約１００名の旅行客を助けることが出来ました！また今回の旅行者のほとんどがフレンドリーで優しい方々ばかりでしたので私たちも楽しく活動できたと思います。

お助け隊と旅行者のエピソード
①Oyster!????
One of the Otasuketai had a chance to help a married couple. While the husband was talking on the phone, the Otasuketai talked with his wife. She asked the Otasuketai "What do you do?" The Otasuketai told her "I'm an office worker." But it sounded like "oyster." to the wife. Somehow it made sense to her and they continued their conversation. → It is a funny story!
お助け隊の一人がご夫婦をお助けする場面があり、そのご主人が電話している間お助け隊が奥様とお話されたそうです。奥様にあなたのお仕事は？と尋ねられ、お助け隊がオフィスワーカー（事務職員）と言ったのですが何故か オイスター（海のかき）と聞こえたようで、、でも彼女にはそれで話が通じていたみたいで面白かったっとの事！
②English is a second language for both of them
Although English is a second language for both Russian travelers and Otasuketai, they tried to speak English very hard to understand each other. Otasuketai also helped them to buy a train ticket.
ロシア人観光客とお互いがしどろもどろ（incoherent）の英語で頑張って会話しました！
切符を買うのも手伝いました。
③ Manneken
One Israeli couple asked Otasuketai “We are looking for a coffee shop”
It was not either Starbucks café or Café Dumond at Kyoto station. They said
“We ate delicious waffles yesterday.” “Is it Manneken?” said Otasuketai.
“Yes, that’s it!!!” They looked happy!
イスラエル人のご夫婦からコーヒーショップを探している。と聞かれ、スターバックスや
カフェデュモンドなど提案するが違うといわれた。昨日おいしいワッフルを食べたが、と
おっしゃったので それはマネケンですか？というと そうそう！！とうれしそうに言われました。日本のマネケンて世界にも通用するおいしいお菓子なんですね。
④A traveler from Poland
Otasuketai met a Polish traveler who spoke with us in fluent Japanese. He lives in Tokyo and studies Japanese now. He tried to get traveling ideas from us. In the meantime another member of Otasuketai found a European couple in need. They happened to be Polish as well. So she introduced the Polish traveler traveling by himself to the Polish couple. The Polish traveler seemed very happy to meet the couple and they kept talking in their own language.
ポーランド人の青年に会いました。日本語に住んでいて日本語が流暢でした。一人で旅をしているとの事でした。奈良の次はどこに行ったらいいかと旅行アイデアを尋ねられました。そうしている内にもう一人のお助け隊メンバーがヨーロッパ人のご夫婦を助け、偶然にも彼らがポーランド人であることがわかりました。最初に会った青年とご夫婦を引き合わせると嬉しかったのか、母国語で絶え間なくお話されていました。母国を離れて住んでいるとやはり故郷の人がたまに懐かしくなりますよね。
⑤A friendly Texan
Otasuketai met an American lady and they found out that she is an English teacher in Japan. She was very friendly and she came back to us to talk with us. Although she could speak Japanese she was very patient and tried to listen to our English. She taught us 2 Texas slang. ①Howdy! = Hello! ② I’m fixing to go. =～に行こうとする
とてもフレンドリーなアメリカ、テキサス女性、英語の先生だそうです。一度別れてまた戻ってきてくれました。お助け隊の皆さんと楽しそうに話されていました。日本語をとても上手に話せる方でしたが私たちが一生懸命英語で話すので聞いて下さいました。テキサスのスラングを２つ教えてくれました。Howdy は こんにちは とい意味。I’m fixing to go. ～に行こうとする。
そのほかに、金閣寺はどう行けばいい？ 奈良に行きたいのですが、、 一日で清水寺、金閣寺、銀閣寺、嵐山をまわりたい どうやって行けばいい？ＡＴＭはどこ？ ヨーグルト食べたいがスプーンが折れて、、、ひとつ持ってますか？ など面白い質問も多々ありました。日本語が出来る観光客、日本に住んでいてＧＷを利用して京都に来ている外国人に多々会いました。いつもの事ながらとても楽しい３時間があっという間に過ぎました。
お助け隊の皆さん有難うございました！また日ごろ学んでいただいている英語を実践いただけたいい機会になったと思いますし観光客の皆さんにも大変喜んで頂きました。横で見させて頂いて皆さんの英語上達力にも関心いたしました。私ももっと京都、大阪の知識を身に身につけながら観光客と触れ合う機会を持ちたいと思います！
