第１０回 お助け隊 12／４（金）＠京都駅
OTASUKETAI (おたすけ隊) 12/4/09 @Kyoto Station
１０時～2時間半程度
4 of the Otasuketai members met in front of Isetan department store at 10:00 a.m.
Weather: It was cloudy and chilly.
Hand outs: a bus route map, a print of useful Otasuke phrases, and a name tag says “Any Questions? “/ Velco English school
We walked around the station to make sure the locations of shops, ticket booths, and the bus terminal. Last time we were asked where McDonald’s and a Japanese sushi restaurant were.
Everyone was very motivated to help foreign travelers. We started helping people in front of the big Kyoto Map of Isetan. Then we moved around the places to look for foreign travelers who seemed to need a help!
We helped 15 travelers total!!! These are the people we helped and questions we were asked below;
Two young Asian travelers---- Where is a rental cycle shop?
A mother and son from Dallas, TX USA ---- We would like to go to Kiyomizu temple.
How could we get there? (I was fascinated to talk with them since I used to live there!)
Two Japanese older travelers--- Where can we catch a taxi?
An Australian couple ----- a terminal to catch a bus
A German lady--- Where is the bus terminal?
A Scottish man--- How long does it take from here to Kinkakuji?
It takes 45 minutes.Is it worth visiting there? We started to chat with him. He was a very gentle man. He is from Edinburgh and told us Edinburgh and Kyoto are sister city. Before Kyoto, he visited Hokkaido. One of the Otasuketai gave him a Kyoto map and he was so glad about that. He gave her a small bottle of scotch as a souvenir. It was very nice of him to do that.
Two Japanese ladies—Is Koumeiji in Nagaoka kyo city good for momiji?
Eikando and Philosophy’s path are really beautiful for this time of the season.
An English lady---How can I get to Kiyomizu temple? She lives in Tokyo and visited Kyoto.
Two Australian girls—Where the restaurants around Kyoto station?
Again, every Otasuketai member was willing to help people. Even some of the Japanese travelers got our help. First we did not know about bus terminal well, but toward the end of our activity, Otasuketai could tell travelers which bus to take without looking at the bus map. Especially the Scottish traveler seemed to enjoy our conversation. He really seemed to appreciate his trip in Japan. I was very happy to see each one of the Otasuketai could communicate well with travelers and seemed to enjoy the conversation with them.
お助け隊 12月４日（金）伊勢丹横 京都ＭＡＰ のあたりで10時集合 約2時間半程度の活動 4名
天気：しぐれて小雨、少し肌寒かったです。
配布物：京都バス路線地図、声かけの英文フレーズ、Any Questions?と学校名記載 の名札（提示すると旅行者も安心してくれます）
周辺確認：レストランや近鉄乗り場、トイレ、バスターミナル、などを見回って確認
伊勢丹２Ｆ地図のところからスタートし、バス乗り場、京都駅メインゲートを巡回して
合計15名お助けいたしました！！
参加頂いた生徒さんみな意気込みがあって雨の寒さも吹き飛ばしてくださいました！
私たちが出会ったTravelers（旅行者）です！
アジア系の男性2名 ＝＝＝ 自転車借りられる所教えてください！
アメリカはテキサス州、ダラスからの親子＝＝＝清水寺に行きたいのですが。。テキサス！？と聞いてうれしくなりました。。
オーストラリアからのカップル＝＝バス停は？
日本人のお年寄り＝＝タクシー乗り場は？
ドイツ人女性＝＝バス停は？
国はわかりませんでしたが、カップル＝＝新幹線のチケット売り場は？
スコットランドからの男性＝＝金閣寺までバスでどのくらいかかる？
とてもgentle manな方でいろいろ会話が弾みました！エジンバラから来られていて
エジンバラは京都との姉妹都市だそうです！お助け隊の一人が親切に京都の地図を手渡すととても喜んで頂き、スコッチをお土産にくださいました。
日本人の東京からの女性2名＝＝もみじ見たいが、、お助け隊の一人が永観堂をお勧め！
早速いってみますと喜ばれました。
オーストラリアからの若い女性2名＝＝レストラン街はどこ？
たくさんの出会いと収穫があった一日でした。お助け隊のみなさんも本当に一生懸命旅行客を助けてくださいました。旅行客の皆さんとの会話が弾んで楽しそうでした。横で見させていただいていてうれしかったです。バス乗り場もはじめは路面図で確認して教えていらっしゃいましたが、最後のほうは番号も覚えて路面図なしでてきぱきと旅行者に案内されていました。私も勉強しないと！と思いました。やはりバスターミナルが一番お助け隊の出動が多かったように思います。お助け隊の皆さんはとてもフレンドリーで知識も豊富、旅行者も喜ばれていました。Velco や海外生活で鍛えられた英語力を発揮していただきました。
